LIVE Classic Rock...VAULT RADIO
******************************************************************
Thought i might pass this along to u classic rock fans......there is a website that is playing live classic rock..using the same method as Accuradio...in that the music streams.....in a small window that u open....then u leave that window open and go about ur other business on the comp...music in the background...works great...
Well bro..this just isn't any classic rock..here is an excerpt from the site....
******************************************************************
Bill Graham and his concert promotion company, Bill Graham Presents, produced more than 35,000 concerts all over the world.
Graham taped thousands of live performances and stored the tapes in the basement of the BGP headquarters.
Vault Radio is now playing selected tracks from these concerts in an FM-quality, 128K digital radio stream.
******************************************************************
The thing is..the site is a little commercial in that they sell classic rock stuff on the site...but they in no way thro it up in ur face...u have to select tabs to even c it...so it's cool.....
When u hit their home page..towards the top right...in the orange bar...there is a headphone icon says....play Vault Radio...so u can go straight to the music no hassle...
I was listening earlier tonight and led zepplin was on..but this was early zepplin..they were the opening act for an old classic rock band long gone now...called Country Joe at the Filmore West...point is....this was zepplin, good but young and unpolished....sounded like a blues band in a smoke filled bar...great stuff......
Here is the link....
http://www.wolfgangsvault.com/
********************************************************************
Update...seems the radio feed is becoming real popular with old and young alike...
And y wouldn't it?...the music is good enough to speak for itself....personally i think Bill Graham should be given the Congressional Medal of Honor and the Presidential Medal of Freedom...for his foresight in recording classic music(this is national treasure material)....(i checked the list of honorees for these 2 awards and they have been given for less significant achievements, of course damn politics will always play a part)...this music has a quality that is significantly better than the 'wham , bam, thank u mam' music put out today....makes today's music seem like pre-schoolers created it...that is, eager and well intentioned, but obviously unschooled...
Here r a couple other links...in case u want to check it out further...the list of artist's live performances that Graham recorded, is simply put mind-boggling....
Also there is a link to Bill's biography..worth a read..the man was a tru Horatio Alger...typified what Americans claim they admire in an individual...
Also another link to the Vault Radio page...lmao...guess i went link crazy...but never hurts to have a back up..
List of classic rock bands live in concert
Legendary Bill Graham's interesting biography
Vault Radio Duplicate Link ..yeah i went link crazy...but it is different than the About link...

Here r a couple comments i sent into the FEEDBACK...section on theVAULT RADIO website....

ROCKIN' IN THE GOOD OLE USA
Greetings again people from the Great Lakes area. With the new playlist out, I am listening and it is flowing like a river.
It has become OBVIOUS to me. That with the release of the Vault Archives and this is only the very beginning, the event is as if a realignment of the planets had taken place.
We now have proof positive of an historical phenomenon, unlike any other heretofore.
The parents and grandparents of today's youth, WERE IN FACT, by all objective analysis, MUCH COOLER than their progeny.
My Oh My!!!! What will we do. This is unheard of. Never fear, as I, ALGERNON, have the answer.
Rock on into the future with the Vault. That should relieve this perpexing conundrum, placing things back in their normal order.
With my prescient abilities, I see families in their cars headed to Disney World, young and old together, rocking to the Vault.
We can all be cool together now.

CNN WORLD NEWS HEADLINE:
World media has gathered at the Vault Radio Headquarters located in "The City That Knows How", for the release of the much anticipated weekly playlist.
It is T-Minus 1 hour 15 minutes and counting to release.
The reality is that the Vault, with it's extensive HISTORICAL LIVE ROCK archives, all of the highest performance quality, is incapable of releasing a disappointing playlist. But people being what they are, are exhibiting much feverish anticipation.
We are able to bring you this comment, from an insider, who is familiar with the efforts of the person responsible, for the list creation-
http://new.wavlist.com/movies/264/rs-record.wav
Essentially it is a win-win situation for all involved and the well wishes of the Rock World are riding with Vault Radio.
As a legendary rocker once said. 'San Francisco is 49 square miles surrounded by reality.'
Therefor, it is a given, that anything coming out of the Golden Gate city will be the ultimate cool.
This is CNN WORLD NEWS signing off and wishing that you would all just ROCK ON!!!!!!

Back in 1970, I was at the Atlanta International Pop Festival.
There I saw the man himself,Hendrix, play the Star Spangled Banner at midnight on the 4th of July.
My point. Vault Radio, with it's live recordings, enables one to recapture that type of experience.
As I am considerably older now, I prefer to sit in my easy chair and let Vault Radio, allow me to fly back in time.
This is opposed to being mixed up with 350-500k fans. To quote the local police chief, in Byron,Ga., where the festival occurred-"There were so darn many of 'em, they ran the alligators and the water moccasins right out of the Echeconnee Creek."
I'll take the easy chair and Vault Radio.
LMAO. Guess I am getting old. Thanks for the memories
********************************************************************
To quote one of the greatest humorists ever 'Wlll Rogers'.
"Things ain't what they used to be and never were."
And I agree, as a rule, this is true. I am hard pressed to go against Will and his innate sense of life and human nature.
VAULT RADIO, is proving to be the exception to old Will's rule. Hell no one is perfect, not even me. Lmao.
Thanks very much for this. Stay with it. This is going to be very big.
********************************************************************
i have been listening and thinking. i believe you may have discovered the Holy Grail, as far as rock n' roll is concerned.
i honestly believe, this live music, with it's immediacy, vibrancy and obvious skill of the musicians has the power to change our current music culture. for the better, God knows it needs it.
although classic rock has held on. it has only been regional. your archives, with their raw, live power presented on a national scale. well i promise you, the sky is the limit.
to effect this change in the culture, you will have to get the music on Ipod. guess everyone in the country(i heard 42 mil) has one.
seems like you could make some money, to help you be the good promoters and custodians of what is an obvious national treasure. hell, congress should give you a grant.
why not contact steve jobs. i heard he is a can do, no horseshit dude. bet he is an old rock n' roller and would help you and of course, his Ipod also.
i promise you, that you have alot of powerful friends and supporters out there. don't be afraid to reach out. just be sure, you have a couple smart lawyers riding shotgun. LMAO, business is business.
keep the faith.

ROCKIN'IN THE GOOD OLE USA. I have been tuned in for a few days solid now. I have not heard even one bad song. Guess we still got a few moves left. Thx.

Vault Radio streaming out over the web to the world, literally, from the United States. Wow! The great thing and my hope is that the people of the world, through this Vault music, will see what we are capable of as a people. Not the plastic, lip-sync, hype driven, studio mix scite that is now the standard. I want the people of the world to know that people who are capable of creating the type of music found on Vault Radio are basically happy, joyful, generous and loving people. And that we would prefer to be their friends first and foremost. That is my hope.
Great thanks to Vault Radio. Ace the dude.
********************************************************************
I can not get enough of this. Like I said in my prior email. ROCKIN' IN THE GOOD OLE USA. I just called my boss and quit my job, so i could listen to more Vault Radio. REALLY? Well not really, but i promise you the thought crossed my mind more than once.
Once I heard Bill Graham say of the Grateful Dead, that they were not a band, they were an environment.
It is true to say that Vault Radio is becoming the same way.
Read the comments. This is a happening, for real.
ALGERNON

very well done. my first instinct is to say VAULT RADIO ROCKS!!!!!. but on second thought, there is much more. Vault Radio rocks, rolls, slips, slides, soars, falls, hangs, hovers, gyrates, spins, inspires, excites and soothes, ad infinitum.
i often find myself pissed off at the over use of superlatives, in every day life, the media. as in have a wonderful day! trust me bro, if every day was wonderful, we would need sedatives, just to maintain. as humans we need our routine.
well , like out of the f'ing blue along comes Vault Radio. now suddenly all the superlatives, really do apply. mythical, marvelous, excelllent, fabulous, wonderful , terrific, imaginary, stupendous, awesome, legendary....
being an old dude, i am trying to maintain and adapt to this new reality, routine. i read the comments and see, that you are really making people happy, and bro, that is what it is all about.
keep on ridin' and don't let'em catch you. thank you very much. you are doing good work.
*******************************************************************
Zowie! Just listened to Hot Tuna and those dudes took it to a whole new level.
Wonder why they broke up. They say some things are too good to last. I thought it was that way with classic rock, for broadcast airplay.
Well, HELLO, Vault Radio. In my conservative opinion, classic rock is BACK. Bigger and badder than ever.
ROCK ON DUDES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
*******************************************************************
ROCKIN' IN THE GOOD OLE USA.
It's 5AM here in the Great Lakes area and I turned on my comp. In short order, I was listening to good LIVE rock. No Hassle. No distraction from a talking head.
For me, it is like being able to say hello , to an old friend, anytime day or night.
Thought the repetion, what little of it I noticed, would bother me. Not the case. The music is that good.
Thx again.
ALGERNON
*****************************************************************
I'm getting into the Vault experience pretty solid, heavy. Decided to look on the net for some news of Bill Graham. As he made this greatness possible.
Found out he was born in Germany(1931), orphaned and came from hard times. He was a true self-made man and ended up a millionaire. Died 1991 in a f'ing helicopter crash, life can be bullshit tragic.
He found himself as a rock promoter, treated the artists with dignity, respect and was the first to take the chance of featuring blues and soul artists, with rock artists.
Found this quote by Mr. Graham...
"The greatest compliment I was ever given came at The Fillmore. It was Cream and the Butterfield Blues Band, headlining.
I just happened to go into the rest room during a break. I was standing at the middle urinal when two guys
came in after me, one on either side...right out of the blue, one said, 'I forgot. Who's playing here tonight?'
Without batting an eyelash, the other guy said, 'I don't know, man. What's the difference? It's The Fillmore."
-Bill Graham
Got me to thinking, this scenario is not too far fetched and is my tribute to Bill's memory. Two people are sitting around and one says "Let's listen to Vault Radio", the other says, "I wonder what the playlist is?"....the first one responds, "Who cares, it's the Vault".
ROCK ON DUDES!!!!! You made Bill proud, promise.
*******************************************************************
Greetings once again folks, from the Great Lakes area.
I am getting alot of positive feeling from this, Vault Radio. Let alone the, the music, I can also see it in the comments.
Firstly, I was proud to read a previous post, where it was noted, that a classic rock station from the area had mentioned Vault and posted a link. This is right on the money, as instead of competition, Vault should be seen as part of the nationwide brotherhood of classic rock. Stations now have a reason to seek to improve themselves, whereas before, the status quo was acceptable.
Second, there are many young people getting into the Vault. If they needed a beacon, Vault is it. The one example, I remember is a 17 year old musician. He said hearing Hendrix, had inspired him to take his playing to the next level. As we all know, like anything, it takes alot of practice. So he can play his guitar, 'Just like he was ringing a bell'
Third. The outright joy expressed by the people, does the heart and soul good.
Well hell, I have run on a bit, but my intentions are good.
Join me in celebrating and appreciating our astounding rock heritage. Made possible by Bill Graham's recordings, to be sure a visionary man...but also, the fantastically creative rock legends, who were just taking care of business and in the process created an enduring legacy, that will outlive us all.
To me, the release of the Vault recordings, is probably the most significant cultural event to have occured in a while.
ALGERNON
*******************************************************************
i continue to listen, how could i do otherwise. this music is, hands down, in a league by itself.
from all the comments, i've read, seems everyone understandably wants more of the vault released, asap. the people here have said the vault is vaste and is just beginning to be explored.
and if, in fact, it all was released immediately, would not this kind of be a commercial sell out. i don't think that is what these people are about. patience children. we got time.
one thought. if there was a regularly scheduled saturday night concert event. i could , no problem, see people holding Vault concert parties around the event.
keep the faith, all. this is waycool.
******************************************************************
Just heard Bill Graham talk on the broadcast and it made me think.
I grew up in the South during this era and although we did not have the legendary venues of the East and West, we rockers endeavored to persevere. Alot of us lived in rural areas and faced some considerable peer pressure, as long hair was just not acceptable. We kept the faith. Just made us tougher.
There is an idiom in the South, that applies to Vault Radio. It may be curious to some of you people outside of the South. It is.- This dog will hunt! Simple translation- Vault Radio is awesome!
Bill's intro caused me to want to remind all of you. We gave you-The Allman Brothers-for them we are eternally proud and you should be eternally grateful. This bands depth and breadth of playing, peforming skill, compositional abilities and innate inclination to break into a kick-ass jam at any time were second to none. Think this is what Bill Graham was talking about.
To all you youngsters out there in the South, if you have not picked up on The Brothers, you are missing a part of your heritage. To the youngsters in other parts of the country, if you have not picked up on them, you are missing a part of your heritage.
Keep on Rockin' dudes.

ROCKIN' IN THE GOOD OLE USA-totally agreed thanks to VAULT.
Well it's approximately 24 hours til the new playlist is started and I am hanging in there.
On the one hand, I could say it is wearing a little thin, as I listen quite alot. But then I hear Suzy Q, kind of an extended jam, followed by Prince of Peace...if you don't like Leon, dude, I can't help you...then comes Joni, sweet songstress, and she did it all without flashing her tits and shaking her arse and lip synching. Just real talent.
As the all time foremost, self appointed, Vault radio advocate on the planet, I am hanging tough. Lol.
To tell the truth, I have no room to complain. Prior to Vault, I had gone exclusively to jazz and classical radio. The problem is, with those, after awhile, it all starts to sound the same.
Have completely given up on classic rock FM, due to the fact that they will not play deep cuts. Talk about a tired playlist, those dudes corner the market. No doubt it is a management imposed marketing restriction, as the DJ's would love to go deep, it's in their blood.
Holy Shit! I have posted alot, but I enjoy reading the many varied and interesting comments, from the different people. Makes Vault more real to me.Probably does for others also.
LMAO, the dude posted, if you remember the 60's, you weren't there. Brother, it was touch and go for awhile, but we made it. Hard to keep a good man down. Hard to keep Vault down also, I think. It is hard to fool people, where good music is concerned. Prior to Vault radio, it just was not available.
*******************************************************************
Just tuned in for the new playlist release.
Heard 'Time Has Come Today',by The Chambers Brothers. Gotta be one of the coolest songs ever. Believe it is a repeat, but that is cool by me.
What is astounding, is that the Chambers Brothers came from a Mississippi sharecropper background and gospel roots.
For them to transition to a song like 'Time Has Come Today' blows my mind. The song was #11 in 1968, those were heady times.
There is a longer version, 11 minutes. Think I heard it, but was quite a while ago.
Anyway, if you are interested, I found a short history of the band at
www.classicbands.com/chambers.html
on the world wide web.
THIS SITE ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!
THANKS VAULT RADIO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Greetings rock n' roll brethren....
There is a phrase, i have always, either rightly or wrongly...attributed to the grateful dead.
No matter...as it has served my purposes, in that, i have always tried to live by the words.
It goes...'I don't trust in nothin' 'cept I can hold it in my hand.'
Well i can't exactly hold the Vault, in my hand...but after listening for a while...it's close enough.
I am onboard til the end...whenever, that may be. it's all the same.
Best Regards.

JESUS CHRIST!!!!! You Ignorant COWS!!!!!!!!!!JESUS CHRIST!!!!
Do not any of you whining, simpering fools read the FAQ??????You know in a time not too long past, knaves knew well when to hold their tongue.
I realize that you are aging, addle brained hippies from a time that is like ancient history. Probably confined to wheelchairs, gumming your food and constantly speaking of the past, emitting foul odors. That have flashbacks on a regular basis and think the only thing a computer is good for, is to view porn and send email. You wonder why we young people get so pissed off at you.DUH?
FAQ==Frequently Asked Questions-DUH.
When will Vault Radio offer CDs, Downloads or Podcasts of live performance songs?
We are hopeful that CDs, Downloads and Podcasts of Vault Radio live performance music will be available beginning this summer (August/September 2006).DUUUHHHH.
Will you allow Vault Radio to play on iTunes (or any other audio player)?
We are working full-time at Vault Radio to prepare the audio archive for streaming. We won't be able to even consider this question for quite some time.DUUUUHHHHHH!!!!!!!
They have already told you, that the archives are enormous. If you haven't already killed all your brain cells, this means you will need to exercise patience. They are interested in quality, something you greedy baby boomers forgot all about in your rush to conspicuous consumption.
If you did not have the attention span of a two year old, you would have been able to find this info on site, WTF? Do you want them to come over to your house and read it to you?DUUUUUHHHHH.????????????????
To tell you the truth, am an aging hippie myself and did not read the FAQ, initially. And if they do not get some complete live concerts on soon, I might just go to 'Frisco and burn their headquarters down. Well maybe not, as that would destroy the archives, and I now find myself unable to live without these streams. Back to the drawing board.
Lmao, hope you got a laugh. btw, read the faq, remember, when all else fails
******************************************************************
Tuned in and am listening to Ten Years After. Alvin Lee and the lads, Good Morning Little Schoolgirl. Good tune.
Reminded me of a story.
Once, Ten Years After, was opening for a more famous act, do not remember who that was. Well, TYA was jamming so tight, that the crowd went crazy. Absolutely would not let them leave the stage. Kept calling for encores.
Finally, Alvin said, dudes, we got to go.
The headliners came on next and the crowd f'ing booed them right off the stage, would not even let them play. I mean it was like, once you had the best, why settle for less. Lmao.
Think this happened in Detroit, which I heard can be tough customers. Real Rock and Rollers.
Also, once heard a DJ on a classic radio station, say her young daughter had asked her once, "Ten Years After what?" Lmao, good question.
Well, those are my Ten Years After stories. I saw them once at a rock festival and yep, they were awesome, powerful performers.
Thanks to Vault Radio for the memories.

After listening to this archival music for a couple weeks and realizing what has been released, only scratches the surface. I can come to an obvious conclusion.
The release of these archives, will turn out to be the most significant cultural event of our current era.
The musical skill and soulful, heartfelt renderings of these musicians are in a WORD, CLASSICAL. Most likely will never be duplicated. Like the music of Mozart, et al.
The current culture of music, admittedly could be placed in an archive, but sadly it would have to be the clown circus archive. The music of today reminds me of slick salesman from out of town, or say just like the carnival is in town.
Bill Graham exhibited visionary and difficult work , over a long time period. This was a tedious and thankless job(as he saw no profit from his efforts). But what is obvious is that it was a work of love. Being visionary, he knew that one day we would need it more than ever.
Todays media, as is their wont, often promote events as culturally significant, which are not. Just "entertainment" media creating hype, for ratings. Unfortunately, they would not know cultural significance if it bit them in the arse.
Well people, THIS IS THE REAL DEAL.
Which brings me to my point.
FOR Bill Graham's, exemplary effort and the significant cultural effect that it will produce over time,He should without reservation be presented with both the Presidential Medal of Freedom and the Congressional Gold Medal of Honor. I checked the list of honoree's for both medals and Bill is their equal.
And friends, that is the honest to God truth.

Hello. I woke up this morning and went for coffee and tobacco, that is standard proceedure. Then I turned on Vault Radio. That is a plus. After my brain started to function,I realized that I have passed the phase where the music makes me constantly think of the past. It finally sunk in that this music feed will be here a long time.
Now I have started to think of this music as the present, the future and the future is well laid out. Each week there wil be a new playlist of great music with little repetition and like the dude said,it will be "the best music never heard". That is a very satisfying realization. This is not the past, it is the future.
